Pope Beach

Pope Beach
Foot of Manhattan Ave.

Swimming, very limited free parking.

This small, rather rocky public beach got its name from the Pope family who owned farmland here as some of Sconticut Neck’s first non-native settlers. The beach is on the shore of Priest’s Cove, so named because a summer retreat house for Jesuit priests was built here in the 1880s. The beach is owned by the Town of Fairhaven.
