Pirates & Privateers Presentation at Fort Phoenix

Hear tales of pirates, Revolutionary War era privateers, and historical Fort Phoenix presented by Greybeard, an 18th century gunner from the privateer sloop Broome, Abigail “Abby” Black, a ship’s doctor, Mr. Church the cook, and Andrew the Powder Monkey. Learn which things you think you know about pirates are myths based on fiction, the difference between pirates and “legal” privateers, and whwether or not real pirates said “arrrgh!” Presentation includes a demonstration firing of a black powder swivel gun. This privately operated farmers market will have locally grown edibles, vegetables, fruits, baked goods, meat, herbs, honey, jams, eggs, plants, homemade soaps, fresh squeezed lemonade and much more. It runs every Sunday from June 24 to October 28. Parking is available in the lot of National Bleach, directly next door to the market.
