and Cannon Salute

At the conclusion of the Car Cruise and Parade (scheduled for 9 a.m.), this patriotic program will be held at historical Fort Phoenix to celebrate the founding of our nation.

The ceremony will feature a brief history of Fort Phoenix presented by Tourism Director Chris Richard. There will then be a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Charles K. Murphy Sr., chairman of the Fairhaven Board of Selectmen. The flag will be raised as the National Anthem is played.

Following the flag raising, the fort’s five 24-pound Seacoast Defense cannons will be fired over the harbor by the Fairhaven Village Militia.
