Acushnet Places

Acushnet, MA, was once part of Fairhaven and incorporated as a separate town in 1860. Originally it was part of the Dartmouth territory purchased in 1652 by a group of Plymouth colonists from Wampanoag chief Massasoit and his son Wamsutta. It is the location of the oldest cemetery in the area as well as the oldest church building.

The town lies directly to the north of Fairhaven, with the Fairhaven streets of Main Street and Alden Road merging into Acushnet’s South Main Street at the town line. You can visit Acushnet’s official town website here: http://www.acushnet.ma.us/.
