South Coast Cinemaniacs: Queens of Destruction (1903-1919)
Monday, March 11, 2024, doors open 5:15 p.m., movies start 5:30 p.m.
Millicent Library, 45 Center St., use Walnut Street entrance
For Women’s History Month, South Coast Cinemaniacs presents Queens of Destruction (1903-1919). Come and watch a riotous collection of silent shorts! Be prepared for extreme slapstick, cross-dressing, shattered social conventions, and chaos. You may emerge shocked by yesteryear’s comediennes and their films!
The evening’s program includes a recorded introduction by its curators Maggie Hennefeld, Laura Horak, and Elif Rongen-Kaynakçi.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fairhaven Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
The club meets in the library’s auditorium. All are welcome! You do not have to live in Fairhaven to join or attend events. Both are FREE to the public.
To easily access the auditorium, please enter the library through the Walnut Street doors. There are both stairs and an accessibility ramp outside of this entrance. The auditorium is the first room to the right after you enter.
Can’t make this meeting? Visit another month! The club meets the second Monday of the month, excluding holidays, to watch and discuss classic movies. Need more information? Email club president Beth Ann Gallagher at: southcoastcinemaniacs@gmail.
