Fort Phoenix July 4th Ceremony

Fort Phoenix Independence Day Ceremony
and Cannon Salute

At the conclusion of the Car Cruise and parade (see previous listing), a program will be held at historical Fort Phoenix. The ceremony will feature a brief history of Fort Phoenix, eleven-year-old Weslee Tyler reading her award-winning essay on America the Beautiful, a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Selectman Charles K. Murphy, and the singing of the National Anthem by FHS Class of 2016 graduate Kennedy Ryan as the flag is raised by John Medeiros. The flag raising will be followed by the firing of the fort’s five 24-pound Seacoast Defense cannons. Sponsored by the Town of Fairhaven and the Fairhaven Village Militia. Free.
